Business Law

One of the Philadelphia Bar Association's oldest and largest sections, the Business Law Section offers business lawyers numerous educational opportunities across a broad range of substantive areas as well as opportunities to network with other attorneys sharing similar professional interests. The Section's committees plan continuing legal education programs and keep their members up to date on current events in more than a dozen substantive areas.

The goal of the Business Law Section's Web pages is to provide Section members with up-to-date information that they can use in their practices.

If the activities of the Business Law Section and its committees have the potential to benefit you and your practice, we invite you to print out a copy of our membership form and become a member.

On behalf of the Business Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, we invite you to participate in our LinkedIn group. The group was formed so members can participate in professional conversations about substantive topics relating to business law. As a member of the group you can follow discussions of interest or participate more actively by leading discussions and commenting about current topics related to the practice of business law.

Please join our LinkedIn group today to get all the benefits section membership has to offer.

Since 2006, Ms. Sinatra has been recognized as a leading corporate/M&A and private equity lawyer by Chambers USA, a referral guide to leading lawyers in the United States. In recent editions, Chambers has described Ms. Sinatra as "a good all-round legal quarterback for corporate transactions" and "a very smart, energetic lawyer with excellent negotiating skills" who is "tireless and unbelievably tenacious in getting things done." She is also recognized for her work in mergers and acquisitions and private equity by The Legal 500 (U.S.), where she has been cited as "great with strategy and high-level business advice." Ms. Sinatra is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America and was recently recognized as a Notable Practitioner for M&A and private equity in the U.S. by the IFLR1000. In 2014, Ms. Sinatra was named a winner of The Legal Intelligencer's "Women of the Year", which highlights the achievements of top women lawyers in Pennsylvania. She was also named among the "2010 Most Powerful and Influential Women of Pennsylvania" by the National Diversity Council, a national organization that seeks to promote diversity and inclusion within workplaces and communities.

In 2014, Ms. Sinatra led the multidisciplinary team of Dechert lawyers that received "Standout" recognition in the Financial Times' North America Innovative Lawyers 2014 awards. The team was recognized for its innovative representation of the Certares-led investor group in its joint venture with American Express Company for its Global Business Travel division valued at US$1.8 billion and related US$900 million investment.

Perhaps, more importantly, Ms. Sinatra is known internally at Dechert LLP as a tremendous mentor of young attorneys, helping them develop a thorough knowledge of representing clients in the Life Cycle of a Deal.

Business Law Section Annual Reception

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

How do I get something added to the website?

Contact your Section's website liaison. If you're not sure who that person is, contact your Section's chairperson.

What kind of materials should go on the website?

Check to see what's already on your Section's pages. Many of our Sections post minutes from previous meetings, practice-related links to helpful websites and a schedule of upcoming meetings. If you have content for your Section's web pages, but aren't sure if it's right for the website, contact your Section's website liaison.

What if I have a document, or a series of documents, I want to add to the site?

That's fine. Some Sections continually add documents in .pdf format to the site. Again, check with your website liaison.

If I want to continually add materials to the website, do I always have to go through my Section's website liaison?

No. First-time requests must be approved by the Section's website liaison. Any additional updates can be sent directly to the Bar Association's web manager.

How quickly can I get my content added to the website?

It depends. The site is updated daily. Update requests are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The overall volume of requests will dictate how quickly your request is fulfilled.

I forgot my log-in information. What do I do?

Contact the Bar Association's web manager.
