The Association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention evaluates judicial candidates to help voters make decisions about candidates for judicial office. The Commission's evaluations are based on criteria such as legal ability, experience, temperament, administrative ability, integrity and devotion to improvement of the quality of justice.

2017 Review Process

The review process for 2017 candidates for Judge of the Court of the Philadelphia Common Pleas and Judge of the Philadelphia Municipal Court has begun. Prospective candidates must complete the Questionnaire accessed through the appropriate link below and submit the completed Questionnaire with writing samples as soon as possible and absolutely no later than March 7, 2017 to the Association's Director of Public and Legal Services Charles J. Klitsch at Candidates will be reviewed and ratings issued in the order in which completed Questionnaires are submitted. Any candidate who fails to submit a completed Questionnaire by March 7, 2017 or who fails to participate in the review process and continues to run for judicial office will automatically receive a "not recommended" rating.
