Resolution Authorizing an Economic Benefits Study

WHEREAS, the Philadelphia Bar Association is committed to encouraging the continued growth and prosperity of Philadelphia, and
WHEREAS, the Association believes that Philadelphia's law firms and lawyers are key to the future vitality of the city; and
WHEREAS, Chancellor Andrew Chirls has established a task force to study and make recommendations regarding the economic benefits and outlook for Philadelphia's law firms; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Association to marshal all available information and resources for the purpose of maximizing the contributions of our law firms and lawyers to the future success of Philadelphia.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Governors authorizes the Chancellor to engage Navigant Consulting, Inc., on the terms set forth in its proposed engagement letter, to work in conjunction with the task force, leaders and professional staff of the Association to conduct a survey of the economic and other benefits of law firms to the City of Philadelphia.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the duly elected officers of this Association are authorized to take such further acts as may be reasonable in order to promptly complete this economic benefits study and to develop recommendations, based on the results of the study, for consideration by the Board of Governors in the future.
