U.S. Supreme Court to Hold Special Admissions Ceremony to Commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Bar

Special to The Legal Intelligencer

Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan H. Gordon will be front and center at the United States Supreme Court in Washington on Monday, May 20, at a special admissions ceremony commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Gordon will move the admission of 47 Philadelphia lawyers who will be formally admitted to practice before the nation's highest court. The ceremony, which has been more than a year in planning, is part of the Association's continuing commemoration of its Bicentennial throughout 2002. It is the first such ceremony in more than 25 years.

Lawyers who will be admitted to practice before the high court were selected by 10 Philadelphia law firms that have participated as Patriot Sponsors of the Association's Century 3 celebration. "I know this will be a very proud day for these lawyers and their families and for the participating law firms," Gordon said. "This is something that we've been looking forward to for a long time."
