National Constitution Center to Mark 250th Anniversary of John Marshall's Death Oct. 11

To mark the 250th anniversary of John Marshalls birth, the National Constitution Center, in partnership with the Philadelphia Bar Association, will welcome Judge Roger Gregory of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to offer a tribute to the great Chief Justice on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The event takes place at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St., at 12:30 p.m.

Judge Gregory was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit by recess appointment of President William J. Clinton in December 2000 and was re-nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the Senate on July 2001. Judge Gregory is the only person in the history of the United States to be appointed to the United States Court of Appeals by two presidents of different political parties. He is also the first African American to sit on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

When you reserve your place at this special event you can also purchase a box lunch for a combined rate of $25 which will be available at 11:45 a.m. (Food is not permitted in the Kirby Auditorium.)

The program is a way for the National Constitution Center to express its gratitude to the Philadelphia Bar Association for loaning the Center its portrait of Marshall by Henry Inman, which is on display in the Centers exhibit space as a further celebration of the Marshall anniversary.
