Philadelphia’s Young Lawyers to Serve Meals to Children, Families at Ronald McDonald House Today

Philadelphia young lawyers will trade their briefcases for aprons today (Tuesday, July 17) by volunteering their time to prepare and serve meals to families of seriously ill children at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, 3925 Chestnut St., from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

The lawyers serving as guest chefs are part of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s 4,000-member Young Lawyers Division. Philadelphia attorneys Jill P. Jenkins of KML Law Group, P.C. and Gustine J. Pelagatti III of Blank Rome LLP are the organizers of the volunteer activity.

“Seeing what these parents and children are coping with hits home for all of us,” said Melanie J. Taylor, Chair of the Young Lawyers Division. “As Philadelphia lawyers, public service strikes at the very heart of what we do. We’re honored to do our small part to help the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House keep its mission of love going.”

The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community of comfort and hope. Two Houses in Philadelphia serve a total of 63 families each night.

Founded in 1974 as the very first Ronald McDonald House, the House at 3925 Chestnut St. is the model for close to 300 Houses throughout the world.
