"We lost a legend today," said Albert S. Dandridge III, Chancellor of the 12,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association.

Hon. Arlin M. Adams, former Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and retired partner at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, "was a man of tremendous intellect," Dandridge said. "Judge Adams was a gentle giant and I cannot say enough about him."

Adams was Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 1967. In 1999, he won the Philadelphia Bar Association's Bar Medal, the Association's highest honor.

Throughout his career, Adams had a diversified litigation and appellate practice and has handled numerous complex litigation matters. Before returning to Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, he served as a U.S. Court of Appeals judge from 1969 to 1987.

His professional and civic leadership has been evident throughout the length of his distinguished career, and in 2001, Susquehanna University created the Arlin M. Adams Center for Law and Society at Susquehanna to honor his many achievements. The University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Annenberg Foundation established the Arlin M. Adams Professorship on Constitutional Law in his honor in 2005.
