Nomination Deadline: Friday, June 19, 2026 

The Philadelphia Bar Association LGBT Rights Committee's Law Student Advocacy Award honors the memory of David M. Rosenblum, the late legal director of the Mazzoni Center, a tireless lawyer and advocate, and an LGBT organizer while in law school.  

The David M. Rosenblum Law Student Leader Award is open to law students who have shown a commitment to the LGBT community. Nominees must have been enrolled in good standing in an accredited law school in the Greater Philadelphia Area for at least one semester during the 2025-26 academic year. All such law students are eligible, regardless of orientation or gender identity. 

The following criteria will be considered: 

  • Nominee is significantly dedicated to LGBT legal issues; 

  • Nominee's work (in or out of school) has had an impact on the LGBT community; 

  • Nominee has shown a commitment to action (e.g., organizing campaigns, groups); or 
    nominee has shown leadership skills through inspiring collaboration and/or staking out brave positions. 

Candidates may be nominated by others or may nominate themselves. Regardless of who nominates the candidate, the nomination submission must be accompanied by at least one endorsement and letter of recommendation written and signed by a person other than the nominee. Nomination letters should be concise and no more than 1,000 words. Nominations should include the candidate's name, school, year, telephone number, email address, and mailing address. Nominations should also include any endorser's name, telephone number, email address, and mailing address.  

Nomination documents are to be submitted, via e-mail, to communications@philabar.org with the subject line “2026 Rosenblum Award” by Friday, June 19, 2026.
