This CLE session will highlight the basics of what you need to know about federal remedies for many work injuries, including Longshore, Jones Act, FELA, FECA, Black Lung and more. Gain an understanding of the interaction between Pennsylvania workers’ compensation law and these Federal statutes relating to injured workers so that you may better serve your clients.

This comprehensive CLE session addresses immigration status and when an individual is legally allowed to work in the United States. David Bercovitch will provide a basic primer on immigration status and discuss how individuals and attorneys navigate the immigration process and the potential pitfalls along the way. Edward Carpenter will highlight common issues in workers’ compensation litigation that arise from immigration status such as an employee’s eligibility for workers’ compensation and proving immigration status as it relates to job availability.

If cancelling your registration, you must notify the Philadelphia Bar Association by email CLEcancel@philabar.org (Preferred) or FAX 215-238-6349 no later than 2 business days prior to the course presentation date for the appropriate site, in order to receive a 100% refund; 1 business day or less, you will receive a full tuition refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Transferring a registration to a substitute course date and time are welcomed. If you do not attend the course and did not notify Philadelphia Bar Association in the appropriate advanced notice, you will receive the course materials in full consideration of tuition paid.
