How to Review a Fiduciary Account and What to Do About It

Program Originally Presented Tuesday, March 17, 2026

This CLE program examines how to review a fiduciary account for trusts and estates and the options available for informal settlement and formal adjudication. Attorney panelists, Adam Cohen and Adam Kachurak, provide a high-level overview of the components and requirements of an accounting under Pennsylvania law and practice pointers for how to structure and prepare clear and defensible accountings. They offer guidance on how to read, analyze, and identify objectionable items in an accounting from the perspective of an interested party’s counsel, and share their experience in preparing and reviewing accountings on behalf of fiduciaries and beneficiaries, and navigating contested proceedings efficiently.

Past Probate & Trust Law Section Chair, Scott Small, offers insight into what corporate fiduciaries consider when weighing whether to settle an estate or trust based on an accounting or through statements and supporting documentation, including the newly enacted Section 7785.1 of the PEF Code.

This CLE is beneficial for trusts and estates attorneys and paralegals of varying degrees of experience and is a can’t miss for those seeking deeper insight on one of the most consequential phases of estate and trust administration.
