Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Marc J. Zucker issued a statement congratulating Rep. Joanna McClinton on being elected Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. McClinton, D-Philadelphia, is the first woman and first Black woman to be elected to the position.

Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Wesley R. Payne IV has issued a statement applauding the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act by the U.S. House of Representatives. The legislation, which protects marriage equality under federal law, was previously passed by the U.S. Senate and is expected to be signed into law by President Joe Biden.
